Can I manually run a SERP scan on a certain day?

This is how you can pull some data outside your normal schedule.

You may want to pull your data for a certain set of keywords at a time other than your currently set schedule. You can pull that data in one click with Run Now.

How to run a scan now

  1. From All Projects, click the Settings Cog next to your project name, or Manage Keywords.
  2. Select the keyword set containing the keywords you want to scan.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the keyword set editor. Next to the Save Keywords button, you'll see the current status and two controls: Run Now and Pause.
  4. Click Run Now.

Your saved schedule is unaffected. A one-off collection doesn't change, pause, or reset the cadence you already have set up.

Run Now kicks off the system to start collecting SERPs for this specific keyword set. Now, you just have to wait a little while (depending on the number of keywords you are getting SERPs for) and soon you’ll have a new, fresh set of data.

Reasons to run a one-off scan

A weekly or even monthly schedule is plenty for most businesses. Most teams simply don't need to see ranking changes every day. But there are moments when an off-schedule pull earns its keep:

  • A client is having a panic attack over a change in Google's algorithm and needs to know how their rankings look right now.
  • You're reaching out to a prospect or a former customer and want to show them a current snapshot of how they're performing.
  • You're considering a strategy pivot and want to see the SERP environment for a potential new set of keywords.
  • A competitor just launched a campaign you suspect moved the SERPs.
  • You have a large keyword list and a subscription that limits monthly SERPs, so you'd rather pull data deliberately than on a standing schedule.

There are plenty more. The point is that your schedule sets the rhythm, and Run Now covers everything that doesn't fit the rhythm.
